Table with elliptical steel painted frame. 19/15 mm. glass top.
History:
Designed in 1929 by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret. This table was presented as part of the "Equipment interiéur d' une habitation" at the Salon d' Automne dea Artistes Décorateurs, Paris 1929. It is constructed with an eliptical tube which at the time was used in airplane construction. It is obvious that the material was chosen not merely for the beauty of form but for its symbolic association with the epitome of the modern age.
