 Le Corbusier: Armchair - 41

Armchair with chromium-plated or painted steel frame. Springing by elastic straps. Polyurethan foam upholstery. Totally remouvable fabric or leather covering.

History:
Designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret. This model clearly illustrates what was undoubtedly the original idea of the Grand Comfort series: a rigid metal frame holding soft, fluffy, down cushions. In laterproduction the cushions were reduced and made fairly rigid. The legs became shorter and the general appearence became more formal. This prototype was most probably developed by Thonet, France.
