 Le Corbusier: Armchair - 03

Armchair with chromium-plated or painted frame hide leather or pony skin, covering, stretched by elastic belts.

History:
Designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, Pierre Jeanneret. This modernized version of the traditional British officer's camp chair associated with the name of Le Corbusier made its initial appearence, in a different version, at the Villa Church, Ville d' Avray. Although this particular version was not produced until 1959, it is the best known. When the chair was first designed, several versions were drawn. However, at the time another version was chosen for production. In 1959, when Le Corbusier took the drawings from the files to send to Miss Heidi Weber who planned to produce Le Corbusier furniture in Switzerland, a design was chosen that had never before been produced.
